Our Gardena, California manufacturing facility also features an in-house NIST certified calibration laboratory. Our calibration services are based on ITS-90 and MIL-C-45662A. TEMPERATURE SENSING DEVICES

Temperature sensing devices are classified as contact or non-contact. The contact type is a sensor that that comes in physical contact with the object or matter. These can be used on a variety of solids, gases or liquids. There are 2 types by which a contact sensor measures temperature. One is by a change in voltage based on 2 similar materials in contact with a heat source. The other is resistance can be measured and predictable to determine temperature. The non-contact temperature sensing device uses infrared as the primary method for determining temperature by reading the intensity of the heat emissions from a material or substance. Infrared are typically used with liquids and solids. Most gases tend to be transparent, making it difficult for infrared to see its thermal signature.
